Due to the danger caused in Augusta by Hurricane Helene the Organizers and the Resort has made the hard decision to cancel OctoberFFist 2024. This storm has claimed 21 lives in the Central Savannah River Area so far. There are currently power outages, low water pressures, limited supplies, natural gas leaks, limited gasoline supplies, and curfews. The county has requested people conserve water and they may have 24-48 hour water outages in areas as they fix water mains damaged by trees falling. The airport in Augusta is currently closed. This is to ensure the safety of attendees, the resort staff, and the Augusta area.
This decision was not made lightly. There are too many unknowns at this time, and many factors went into this decision. At this time the area can not support the addition of 370+ people. It would take away resources from an already strained area. We are making this decision now to allow people to change their plans. We know many people will start traveling as early as Monday.
If you have friends registered or planning on attending please let them know as not everyone reads their emails regularly.
We will be in touch in the next 30 days on how both passes and Parliament hotel reservations will be handled. Remember the resort is still without power, phone, and internet. Please do not call the resort at this time. Please bear with us as we work through the details of how to move forward. We encourage you not to request refunds or room cancelations yet as we are working with the resort on plans for moving forward.
We were looking forward to seeing everyone this week, and hope to see everyone in the Spring.
